Mission: DICE is currently offering virtual classes for grades 4-9.
If you would like to register for a workshop, please contact us here. For a limited time, we are offering our workshops for free to libraries, schools and other youth-serving organizations. 

Introduction to Tinkercad
Design a Personalized Keychain

​What is Tinkercad:​
​Tinkercad is an easy-to-learn 3D modeling software. It is completely online, and requires no software installation.

In this workshop we learn:​
  • Creating an account and logging in
  • Maneuvering around the environment and getting to know the basics
  • Using the hole tools to make more complex designs and artwork
  • Simple model making by creating a design for a personalized key chain
Prerequisites:
Basic knowledge of how to use a computer
Time:​
1-1.5 hours

​Intermediate Tinkercad Skills
​
Design a Lego Minifigure Model

We expand our Tinkercad skills in this workshop and take it to the next level.

​
In this workshop we learn:​​
  • Efficiently use the ruler tool
  • Use the workplane tool
  • Use the align and the mirror tools
  • Learn about the difference between orthographic and perspective views
  • Some advanced modeling of objects by making a Lego Minifigure model
Prerequisites:
​
​Basic Tinkercad knowledge is required which is covered in “Introduction to Tinkercad” 
Time:​
​
1.5-2 hours

Coding with Tinkercad
​
Design a Snowflake/Mandala

​​Tinkercad offers an environment for coding similar to the professional software “OpenSCAD”, where drag-and-drop coding is used to create 3D models. 

In this workshop we learn:​​
  • The various coding blocks that are in the environment
  • Basic programming such as sequential coding, loops, and functions
  • Basic pattern modeling with coding to make a snowflake or mandala
Prerequisites:
​
​Basic Tinkercad knowledge is not required but is certainly helpful.  Workshop starts with some introduction to Tinkercad. The same environment is used to view the 3D models as they are rendered live. 
Time:​
1-1.5 hours
